Two Hurt in Overnight Stabbing on Kanawha Boulevard in Downtown Charleston

Two people are recovering from stab wounds after a fight broke out in the middle of the night along Kanawha Boulevard East in downtown Charleston.

The call came in just before 2 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 1, from the 600 block of Kanawha Boulevard East, near the Four Points by Sheraton hotel, according to an alert from Kanawha County's Metro 911.

Charleston Police said officers responded to a reported altercation involving three people. Two of them were stabbed. Both were taken to a local hospital for treatment, and police said their injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Based on their preliminary investigation, police said the incident appears to be isolated, involving a confrontation between the people who were there, and not a threat to the wider public.

As of Sunday afternoon, no arrests had been made, and police said the investigation remains ongoing. Investigators have not released the names of the people involved or said what led up to the fight.

The stretch of Kanawha Boulevard where this happened is one of the most familiar views in the Capital City, with the river on one side and hotels, offices and apartments on the other. It's a busy spot for visitors, downtown workers and folks out for a walk along the water, which is exactly why news like this gets people talking.

Anyone who saw what happened or has information that could help investigators is encouraged to contact the Charleston Police Department at 304-348-6400.

We're glad to hear both people are expected to recover, and we'll keep an eye on this one and share any updates as police release more information.
